The Types of Projects We Support
The Les Cheneaux Community Foundation supports projects that improve the quality of life for the citizens of our community Eligible projects typically focus on education, culture, environmental awareness, community development or health and wellness.
Applications From Tax Exempt Organizations
LCCF welcomes grant applications from organizations serving our community that are tax exempt in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Prospective grant applicants are encouraged to contact LCCF to discuss their proposal and request information on our grant making process. This allows staff and trustees to work with the applicant for the purpose of submitting the most competitive application possible.
The Grant Proposal Review Process
Grant proposals are reviewed by a Distribution Committee and LCCF’s Board of Trustees. The Committee and the Board carefully consider the merits of each project before making a final decision. This review process ensures that the dollars invested in the Foundation by the community and reinvested is done as strategically as possible.
A letter of notification and a grant contract are sent to each recipient after formal approval has been made.
The Foundation works with grant recipients to monitor progress and evaluate project results.
Grants are awarded twice each year, in the spring and fall, and on rare occasions in emergencies.
Grant Making Priorities
LCCF is most interested in projects that focus on Arts and Humanities, Social Services, Education, Community Enrichment, Youth, Environmental Awareness and Protection, and Health and Wellness.
Grants normally range from $1,000 to $5,000. In general, highest priority is given to those applications that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Enables an organization to better carry out its purpose in the community
- Enhances cooperation among organizations
- Creates programs to meet emerging needs
- Builds new approaches to meet existing needs
- Benefits a large percentage of people
